An experienced coach on both the collegiate and high school level, Levar Willis was named an assistant coach on head coach Robin Harmony’s staff in May 2016.
Willis comes to Lamar University from fellow Southland Conference member Southeastern Louisiana, where he spent two seasons as associate head coach.
Willis spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach at LSU Eunice, helping the Lady Bengals to a 26-3 record, leading LSU E to its first-ever Miss-Lou Conference Championship. Prior to his time at LSU E, Willis was the lead assistant at St. Francis High School, where he helped lead the team to Georgia Class A State Championship.
Other stops along the way for Willis, included stints at Clark Atlanta, West Virginia Tech, Atlanta Metropolitan College and Brandon University, as well as the W.P. Celtics AAU basketball program. During his tenures at West Virginia Tech and Brandon, his squads won conference championships.
During his career, he has recruited 17 all-conference performers, including one All-America selection. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Morris Brown College in 2004, before completing his master’s in athletic coaching education at West Virginia in 2009.
