Candace Walker

Candace Walker is in her fourth season as assistant coach of the Lady Cardinals after being hired in June 2013.

Walker was an assistant coach at St. Thomas University in Miami, Fla., for two seasons, rejoins Lamar University head coach Robin Harmony, who was the head coach at St. Thomas.

A tireless worker, Walker helped LU win a Southland Conference regular-season championship and a berth in the WNIT in 2013-14, and place second in the conference with a 14-4 conference record in 2014-15.

Walker played basketball for four seasons at UNC Wilmington, finishing her career second on the school’s all-time list for games played at 119 and third in steals with 185.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration from UNC Wilmington in 2010, Walker earned her master’s degree in sports administration from St. Thomas while serving as assistant women’s basketball coach.

In her second season at St. Thomas, Walker helped the Bobcats post a 27-4 record, including a perfect 14-0 record in the Sun Conference, as St. Thomas was ranked as high as 11th in the nation in the NAIA.

As a student, Walker was actively involved with the UNC Wilmington Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Adopt-A-Family and the Relay for Life. At Lamar, she is involved in a number of community service activities with the Lady Cardinals.

Walker was a standout player at North Atlanta High School in Georgia, earning second-team All-State honors.

She resides in Beaumont.
