Kaitlin McFarland was hired as an assistant coach for Lamar University softball in January 2024.
McFarland comes to Beaumont by way of Waukesha, Wisc. where she worked as a sports performance coach with NX Level Sports Performance since August 2022 teaching athletes from ages 12 to 23 basic foundations of athletic movement while also educating them on joint care and nutrition.
Prior to her time in Wisconsin, McFarland served as the director of strength and conditioning at Doyle Academy in Ackworth, Ga. Here, she utilized various stat-tracking technologies and video software to help train baseball and softball players through various levels of instruction.
In the coaching world, McFarland's last Division 1 experience was as a sports performance coach at Kennesaw State where she oversaw the women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, women's golf and cross-country teams. She also served as an assistant sports performance coach for softball, volleyball and track and field teams while also working with injured football athletes.
McFarland has five years of experience as a hitting and catching instructor most recently with the Milwaukee Baseball Academy in 2023. Since 2019, she has trained more than 20 current collegiate softball and baseball players. She also has two years of head coaching experience at the youth level and has coached ten Division I commits over the years with more at the Division II and III level.
As a player, McFarland was a three-year starting catcher at Liberty University where she was a part of a team that won the Big South Conference championship and made it to the NCAA Regional Championships in 2018. She made the Big South All-Tournament Team in 2017 and went on to help her team become NISC National Champions that year.
Off the diamond, McFarland served as the president for the NCAA Division 1 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2018-19 after completing a term as vice president in 2017-18. She also made the Big South Presidential Honor Roll from 2016 to 2018.
McFarland earned her Bachelor of Science in May 2018 and received her Master of Science in 2019 both from Liberty University.
