Erin Dixson joined the Lamar University softball coaching staff in August of 2018. She comes to Lamar with several years of experience, including two seasons at Louisiana State University (LSU).
“I’m excited to have Erin on our staff,” remarked Coach Amy Hooks. “She comes highly recommended from LSU’s head coach Beth Torina, who is one of the best pitching minds in the game. She is passionate about pitching and she will be a great member of our staff.”
Prior to Lamar, Dixson spent two seasons as the graduate manager of the LSU softball team, during which time the Tigers racked up 93 wins, advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals in 2017 and 2018, and advanced to the 2017 softball College World Series. In her time under the tutelage of Coach Torina, Dixson got to work with several notable student-athletes, including Allie Walljasper, a three-time All-American and National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Softball first round draft pick, and Carley Hoover, an All-American and NPF first round draft pick.
During her time at LSU, Dixson also served as the volunteer pitching coach for Zachary High School, as a pitching instructor for the USA Elite Select 30 All-American Camp, and as a private pitching instructor.
Dixson is also an incredibly accomplished collegiate pitcher. She began her career at Northeast Mississippi Community College where she earned NJCAA Pitcher and Player of the Week honors. Dixson helped her team to runner-up and third-place regional finishes while earning First and Third-Team North Half honors. She hit .389 as a Lady Tiger while recording the highest slugging percentage, drawing the most walks, and hitting the most home runs on the team. Dixson also threw one no-hitter at NMCC.
After completing her junior college career, Dixson transferred to Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she made an immediate impact, playing in all 52 games her junior season. She led the team with a .394 on-base percentage and tied for the team lead in home runs. She also led the team in the circle with 15 wins (breaking an Eckerd single-season record), 183 innings pitched, 32 appearances, and 19 complete games. Dixson ranks in the Top 10 in career innings pitched (10th, 292.1), earned run average (fourth, 2.78), strikeouts (ninth, 113), and wins (sixth, 24).
