Kenneth Woodard Jr.

Kenneth A. “KJ” Woodard Jr. joined the Lamar University athletics training staff in October 2015 as the athletics trainer for men’s basketball.
 
Woodard, who has worked with teams in the National Football League and NFL Europe, comes to LU from Hopkinsville High School in Hopkinsville, Ky., where he served as the head athletic trainer since March 2012. Prior to his time in Hopkinsville, he was the head athletics trainer for men’s basketball at the University of South Florida.
 
A 2003 graduate of Arkansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Woodard earned a Master of Science degree in exercise, fitness and health promotions from George Mason University in 2005.
 
After earning his master’s degree at George Mason, Woodard served as interim head athletics trainer at Grambling State University for one year before serving as an intern on the training staff of the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals. Woodard also spent more than three years on the staff of Baptist Sports Medicine in Nashville, Tenn., providing training services to the Tennessee Titans of the NFL.
 
Woodard has certifications from the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification and the National Academy of Sports Medicine among others.
