Aaron Proctor

Aaron Proctor joined the Lamar University men’s basketball coaching staff in June 2021. Proctor comes to LU from Cape Girardeau, Mo., where he spent the previous season serving as the Director of Basketball Operations at Southeast Missouri State.
 
Proctor brings 15 years of coaching experience with him to the Golden Triangle, including four years as a head coach at the high school level and two stints as an AAU head coach.
 
Proctor’s one-year stay in Cape Girardeau came following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Missouri State-West Plains. During the final three months at MSU – West Plains he also held the title of interim head coach.
 
Proctor took the job at West Plains after spending the 2018-19 campaign at Arkansas – Fort Smith. Proctor joined the Lions after a one-year stint as the head coach of North Forest High School in Houston. His time at North Forest was one of three high school head coning jobs which also included stops at Heights High School and Alvin High School.
 
Proctor served on staff for two seasons at Kansas State as a graduate assistant coach. During his time with the Wildcats, KSU recorded 38 wins – including a 20-win season in 2016-17 – and advanced to the 2017 NCAA Championships where they defeated Wake Forest in their first-round game.
 
A native of Houston, Proctor attended California State San Bernardino where he played one season for head coach Jeff Oliver. During that season (2004-05), Proctor helped lead the Coyotes to a 21-6 (.778) record. The Coyotes captured the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) title and earned a trip to the NCAA tournament that year.
 
Proctor graduated from CSUSB with a bachelor’s degree in 2006. Following his graduation, Proctor went on to teach at the high school level before returning to college to receive his master’s degree from Kansas State in 2017. He and his wife, Ashford, have a daughter, Harper.
