Morgan Ford

Morgan Ford was named assistant coach in March 2024. He was hired to work with the Cardinals' outside linebackers.

This is Ford's second stop at Lamar. He spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons serving as a quality control coach working with Lamar's special teams.

A native of Port Arthur, Ford has gained valuable experience at numerous levels of the game in his young career ranging from NCAA Division III all the up to professional football. Ford's coaching career began at his alma mater, Mississippi Valley State, in 2018 before accepting a graduate assistant position at East Texas Baptist University working with the corner backs.

He spent one season at ETBU before making the jump to NCAA Division I football at Lamar. After a brief stint with the Red and White, Ford got the call to serve as a defensive graduate assistant coach at UL Monroe. Ford's steady climb up the ladder continued just five months later when he was hired as a defensive backs coach for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL in September 2022. Ford's upward trajectory has included the honor of serving as the defensive coordinator for the 2019 Gridiron All-American Game.

An established recruiter in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi, Ford has helped produce some of the region's top talent who have gone on to play at the next level, including Rodney Randle (New England Patriots), P.J. Locke (Denver Broncos), Calvin Tyler (Cincinnati Bengals), Ajene Harris (XFL) and Kevon Latulas (XFL).
