Lorenzo Jackson

Lorenzo Jackson was named Cardinals defensive line coach in January 2023 and became Coach Rossomando's third hire after taking over the program.
 
In his first season with the Cardinals, Jackson helped turn senior Caleb Williams into one of the top defensive linemen in the Southland. The Houston, Texas native turned in a career year for the Red and White recording 57 total tackles including 14.0 unassisted stops with 6.0 tackles for a loss. He also recorded a sack, three pass deflections and a recovered a fumble on his way to the second-team All-Southland Conference honors.
 
Jackson has worked at all levels of the game in his young career, ranging from NCAA Division II all the way to the Power Five level. He comes to the Golden Triangle from Clinton, Miss., where he spent the previous year coaching defensive linemen at Mississippi College.
 
Jackson took on the full-time role at Mississippi College after a two-year stint in Columbus, Ohio serving as graduate assistant for The Ohio State University. During his time with the Buckeyes, Jackson assisted with the tutelage of the OSU defensive linemen. Jackson played a key role in the development of All-America selection Haskell Garrett, NFL fourth-round draft selection Tommy Togai and NFL free agent signee Jonathon Cooper. He also worked with several other Buckeyes who have gone onto professional playing careers, including Chase Young, Sam Hubbard, and Dre’Mont Jones.
 
During Jackson’s two seasons in Columbus, the Buckeyes recorded a 22-4 (.846) overall record, posted two top-10 national rankings and advanced to the 2022 FBS Playoffs.
 
Prior to his time at Ohio State, Jackson spent one season at North Texas as a graduate assistant coach. He had a significant impact with the Mean Green during his lone season in Denton. Jackson helped produce two first-team all-conference linemen, as well as Dayton Leblanc who was named to the Freshman All-C-USA team.
 
Jackson also has familiarity with FCS football getting his coaching start at Grambling State as a graduate assistant coach in 2018. Jackson graduated with his bachelor’s degree from UL Monroe in 2015.
