A former NFL Draft selection who spent four seasons in the league, Adrian Madise joined the Lamar University coaching staff in February 2018. Madise is entering his second season with the Cardinals, but his first working with the running backs after spending 2018 with Big Red’s receivers.
Madise makes the jump to the college ranks after spending the previous eight years putting together a successful résumé at the high school ranks. Madise has spent the previous three seasons serving as the offensive coordinator for South Oak Cliff High School.
During his time at the high school level, Madise has made a name for himself by producing NCAA Division I talent. Madise has produced more than 50 athletes who have gone on to play football at a four-year school. Among the athletes that advanced to play football at the next level, 14 signed with NCAA FBS schools.
In addition to the number of athletes Madise has produced, his teams have put up some impressive numbers as well. He helped coach four different teams to the playoffs and was a member of the Red Oak staff that was named 2009 District 15-4A Football Staff of the Year. He also produced two squads that finished ranked among the area top 20 in passing and scoring offense, including the 2016 South Oak Cliff squad which finished the year ranked 11th in the area in scoring offense (39.7 ppg).
Madise’s coaching career has also made stops at Mesquite, Woodrow Wilson, Skyline, Dallas Lincoln and Red Oak High Schools.
Madise played his college football at TCU where he was coached by current LU head coach Mike Schultz. Madise led the Horned Frogs in receptions and receiving yards in 2001 and 2002 on his way to team MVP honors. Following his college career, Madise was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2003 draft. He spent four seasons in the NFL playing for the Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans.
Madise graduated from TCU with his bachelor’s degree in May 2003. He returned to school to earn a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from North Texas in May 2017.
