Biography

2017 Season:
• Named to the All-Southland Third Team as a utility player, one of six Cardinals earning All-Southland honors in 2017
• Third-toughest to strikeout in the Southland – 16.2 at-bats per strikeout. That was 11th-best in the NCAA in 2017.
• Finished the season as the Cardinals’ hottest hitter, with a .563 (18-for-32) batting average over his last nine games.
• Ranked third on the team in batting average (.333).
• Had 54 hits on the year, including a career-best 10-game hit streak from May 5 through May 19.
• 18 multi-hit games, including two three-hit games and a career-best four-hit game on May 19 at McNeese.
• Saw action in 53 games (including 51 starts) as a utility player. He appeared at center, right, and second base.
• Three three-RBI games; Fairfield on Feb. 25, at Abilene Christian on April 21, and Stephen F. Austin on May 14.
• Totaled 32 runs, sixth-best on the team, and 25 RBI, seventh-best on Big Red.
• Led the team in sac bunts with seven.
• Stole five bases, third-most by a Cardinal.

Prior to Lamar:
• Led his team to a 42-15 season in his sophomore year.
• Voted NTJCAC Second-team All-Conference with a .410 batting average.
• Helped Grayson to a conference championship in his freshman season.
• Graduated Cum Laude with a 3.82 grade point average.
• Was also chosen NTJCAC Academic All-American.
 
High School:
• District 9-4A Offensive Player of the Year and all-state shortstop after a .415 average, led his team to a 22-14 record his junior season.
• Was a regional finalist and was the top-ranked team in the state his sophomore season, and a regional quarterfinalist and ranked 10th in the state his junior year.
• Led JWHS to a 72-37 while he was on the varsity team.
• Three-time all-district shortstop.
•.385 batting average his senior season.
• Graduated with a 3.7 GPA.
• Three-year letterman in baseball.

• Majoring in business management.
• Son of Sheryl and Steve DeVore.
• One sister, Lexie.
• Lexie plays soccer at East Central University.
• Has aspirations of a career in business and finance.
