Tod McDowell was promoted to full-time assistant coach in November of 2023.
McDowell played an intricate role in helping the Cardinals record back-to-back 40-win seasons for the first time since 2003-2004.Â
McDowell was a part of current head coach Will Davis' first Lamar recruiting class. McDowell has been with Davis every step of the year from player to student assistant to volunteer coach.
Despite having his playing career cut short due to injury, McDowell turned his focus toward helping the program advance in other ways.
A native of Bridge City, McDowell will play a heavy role in recruiting efforts for a program that has seen multiple nationally ranked overall recruiting classes and junior college transfer classes under Davis' guidance.
