Jace Hutchins

  • Title
    Pitching Coach
Jace Hutchins joined the staff as its new pitching coach in January 2026.

Hutchins joins LU after serving as a pitching development coach in the Chicago Cubs organization. A native of College Station, he previously worked as a student assistant at Texas A&M during the Aggies' historic 2024 season, helping guide one of the nation's top pitching staffs.

That year, Texas A&M finished as the College World Series runner-up while leading the country in shutouts and ranking among the top 10 nationally in earned run average, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts per nine innings, and WHIP. The Aggies also set a program record for strikeouts in a season and tied the school mark for shutouts.

In 2025, Hutchins was promoted to director of program and pitching development at Texas A&M, where he specialized in pitch design, player development, and the use of advanced analytics and cutting-edge technology.

Hutchins' ties to the Aggies run deep—he worked alongside his father, Jason, who has served on Texas A&M's coaching staff since 1998 as director of baseball operations.

Despite his playing career being cut short by injury in 2023, Hutchins earned the Marion Pugh Spirit Award, presented to the player who best exemplifies team unity and leadership on and off the field.

Before his time at Texas A&M, Hutchins redshirted at the University of Texas in 2022 and began his collegiate career at Blinn College in 2021, where he made 10 starts and posted a 4.76 ERA over 39.2 innings with 52 strikeouts. He was also named to the NJCAA All-Academic third team for maintaining a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.

A three-year letterman at College Station High School, Hutchins helped lead his team to the state semifinals in 2016 and playoff appearances in 2017 and 2018.
