2020 football ticket assurance plan

In the event that any of the home football games are canceled as a result of the public health threat of COVID-19, season ticket holders will have the following options:

    1. Credit towards the 2021 LU Football home season
    2. Credit towards other LU Athletic home events
    3. Apply season ticket purchase to the LU Cardinal Club as a donation for this year
    4. Pro-rated refund on games that are impacted

“We are very fortunate to have a strong fan base here at Lamar University,” said LU Director of Athletics Marco Born. “We are very thankful to the support of our season ticket holders and donors. We also want to make sure to do right by them during what has been a very tough time for the Golden Triangle and the entire nation. Our main goal is to provide a peace of mind to our fan base as we head into the 2020-21 athletics year.”

At this time, the LU Athletic Department has not made a decision on any limited seating (i.e 75% capacity in Provost Umphrey Stadium) but will look to make those determinations in July or August as more information becomes available.

A payment plan option is available where fans can purchase or renew their season tickets using monthly payment plans with 0% interest. Season tickets start as low as $50

To take advantage of a payment plan or if there are any questions/concerns regarding 2020 LU Football season tickets, contact the LU Ticket Office at (409) 880-7168 or vend_dschramm@lamar.edu.

Born recently announced that the football team is anticipating returning to campus for voluntary summer workouts beginning June 29.

The student-athletes will go through a week of physicals, testing and COVID-19 prevention as the LU sports medicine staff provides necessary supervision. LU Athletics will continue consulting with local medical professionals throughout the summer and leading up to football season kicking off on Sept. 3 vs. Mississippi College at Provost Umphrey Stadium.

A new era of Cardinal football got under way on December 12th with the hiring of Blane Morgan to take over the program. Morgan becomes the Cardinals’ third head coach since the program’s rebirth, and just the 10th since transitioning to a four-year institution. One of rising young stars in the coaching world, Morgan comes to LU after spending the previous five seasons at San Diego State coaching the Aztec quarterbacks. A direct disciple of legendary coaches Rocky Long, Fisher DeBerry and Troy Calhoun, Morgan was also a successful offensive coordinator at the Air Force Academy where he spent 13 seasons. Morgan will coach a young squad in 2020 as 10 starters, including all the specialists, and more than 40 letterwinners return from last year’s squad.
