CHOUDRANT, La. —
Nathan Woodham earned a share of the individual title at the Argent Financial Classic, finishing at 10-under-par 206 to tie for first Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club.
Woodham became the first Cardinal to win or share a tournament title since
David Schneider Jerez tied for first at the Graeme McDowell Invitational in September 2023.
As a team, Lamar University tied for fourth place with Texas State, finishing eight strokes behind third-place Louisiana Tech. The Cardinals recorded their first top-five finish at the tournament since placing third in 2016.
Woodham carded a 3-under-par 69 in the final round, highlighted by seven birdies.
He played the front nine in 2-under par with four birdies and four pars before adding three birdies and four pars on the back nine.
Freddie Surgey climbed six spots on the leaderboard to finish inside the top 15 after posting a 2-under-par 70.
Surgey recorded five birdies and 11 pars, including a bogey-free front nine with four birdies.
Rory Bennett and
Filip Widepalm each recorded four birdies during the final round.
Bennett closed with a 1-under-par back nine, carding six pars and two birdies.
Woodham shared the individual title with Louisiana Tech's Oskari Schuvalow, who fired a 4-under-par 68 in the final round.
The Cardinals recorded 53 birdies during the tournament, the third-highest total in the field.
Troy surged into first place with an 11-under-par 277 in the final round and claimed the team title with a three-stroke victory over North Texas.
