CHOUDRANT, La. — Nathan Woodham highlighted Lamar's opening round at the Argent Financial Classic, firing a 3-under-par 69 on Sunday at Squire Creek Country Club to finish the day tied for second.

As a team, Lamar posted a 291 and is tied for seventh place with North Texas. The Cardinals hold a six-stroke advantage over ninth-place UL Monroe.

Woodham played the back nine at 4-under, recording three birdies, five pars and an eagle. He finished the round with 12 pars.

Freddie Surgey shot even par on the front nine with two birdies and five pars. He added another birdie on the back nine.

Matthew Bramford carded two birdies and an eagle to shoot 2-under on the front nine and finished the day with 10 pars.

Rory Bennet recorded back-to-back birdies on the back nine and finished the round with 12 pars while Filip Widepalm totaled 14 pars during the afternoon.

The Cardinals recorded 69 pars, 10 birdies and two eagles in the opening round.

Tournament host Louisiana Tech leads the field at 3-under-par 285, one stroke ahead of second-place Troy.

Louisiana Tech's Oskari Schuvalow sits atop the individual leaderboard after an opening-round 68, holding a one-stroke lead.

Woodham is part of a four-way tie for second alongside East Texas A&M's Brady Mann, Louisiana Tech's Morton Bailey and Texas State's Dean Richards.
