STILLWATER, Okla. – Lamar University's cross country teams each placed 10th and recorded seven top-100 finishes at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree held at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course. The women's team scored 332 points in the 6,000-meter race, while the men's team tallied 313 in the 8K run.
BYU won the women's 6K race with 32 points, but OSU's Billah Jepkirui (19:24.4), took home the individual title. New Mexico captured the men's team title with 28 and were led by overall winner, Pasanjo Kitonga (23:24.4)
For the third consecutive race, Ashton Rainey paced the Cardinals on the women's side, placing 43rd with a time of 21:35.5. Freshmen Sara Vershure (77th; 22:31.7) and Aubrey Garcia (96th; 23:11.1) also recorded top-100 finishes. Madison Akers (23:47.0) and Lily Davis (23:49.2) finished 114th and 116th, respectively, while Lauren Polk (25:59.4) rounded out Big Red's scorers in 155th place.
Ryan Servantes led the men's squad, placing 67th in 25:30.2. Just 11 seconds and seven places behind was Adrian Hahn Vadstein, who finished 74th with a time of 25:41.0. Alexis Rodriguez (88th; 25:55.8) and Guillaume Dupre (90th; 25:57.1) crossed the finish line two seconds apart, while Riley Trent (116th; 26:21.8), Geovany Cisneros (124th; 26:28.9), Kenny Bibb (129th; 26:37.2), Dominick Luna (138th; 26:53.4) and Luke Parker (140th; 26:55.2) all earned spots in the top 150. The final three Cardinals to cross the line were Aaron Garcia (156th; 27:31.2), Matthew Medina (171st; 27:52.8) and Aaron Saenz (176th; 28:03.0).
Big Red returns to College Station, Texas, to compete in the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday, Oct. 16. That meet will serve as LU's final regular-season competition before the Southland Conference Championships.
