COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Lamar University's cross country teams placed in the top 10 at the Texas A&M Invitational on the Dale Watts '71 Cross Country Course Friday morning. The men scored 147 points to finish sixth in the 8,000-meter course, while the women tallied 213 points for eighth place in the 5K.
The men opened the meet at 7:40 a.m., led by top 25 finishes from
Adrian Hahn Vadstein, who placed 23rd in 25:12.3, and
Guillaume Dupre, who followed in 25th with a time of 25:19.1.
Alexis Rodriguez finished 29th in 25:24.0, while
Ryan Servantes crossed the line three seconds later in 31st (25:27.6).
Riley Trent placed 43rd in 25:51.1, followed by
Dominick Luna, who was 53rd in 26:05.9.
The rest of the men's team finished in the following order:
Kenny Bibb (58th; 26:11.1),
Aaron Garcia (62nd; 26:16.1),
Luke Parker (67th; 26:25.6),
Matthew Medina (83rd; 26:59.7),
Aaron Saenz (91st; 27:17.7) and
Aaron Nava (123rd; 28:48.5).
Ashton Rainey paced the women's team and was the only Cardinal to record a top-10 finish, placing sixth with a time of 17:27.9. Repeating the order from the previous meet, freshmen
Aubrey Garcia (37th; 18:28.2),
Sara Verschure (54th; 18:57.7),
Madison Akers (64th; 19:09.3) and
Lily Davis (75th; 19:23.3) crossed the line in succession.
Lauren Polk (95th; 20:28.4) and
Anna Eischen (100th; 20:44.9) both finished among the top 100, while
Dena Marie Barby (118th; 23:02.4) rounded out Big Red's lineup.
The Cardinals will next run at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree Saturday, Sept. 26
th. The meet will be in Stillwater, Okla., on the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.
