BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will close out August with its last non-conference road test against Tarleton State in Stephenville on Sunday evening. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals battled Rice to a 1-1 tie Sunday.  Diem Sealy scored her first collegiate goal in the first half while senior goalkeeper Keely Thomas recorded four saves in her second start for LU.

Diem Sealy's goal was featured on the Sportscenter Top 10 plays in the No. 8 slot. This was the first time in program history that a Cardinal soccer player was featured on the SC Top 10. 
 
KEELY IN SOLID COMPANY AFTER FIRST THREE APPEARANCES
Thomas became the third Cardinal goalkeeper in program history to record two shutouts in her first two appearances with LU. The other two goalkeepers were Jocelyn Hanrath (2018) and Nicole Panis (2021).
 
ALL-TIME vs. TARLETON STATE
LU has won both its previous meetings against the Texans. The two teams last met in 2023, when the Cardinals scored three second-half goals to win, 3-0 in Stephenville.
 
ABOUT THE TEXANS
Under first-year head coach Erik Solberg, the Texans are 0-1-2 following a 1-0 loss to UT Rio Grande Valley Thursday evening. TSU outshot the Vaqueros, 19-5, while goalkeeper Rylie Bloomfield recorded four saves.

LU is set to open four straight home games Thursday, hosting Our Lady of the Lake at the LU Soccer Complex. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+.
