BEAUMONT, Texas — Nisaan Martinez earned Best Opposite honors at the conclusion of the six-day 2026 North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation U21 Pan American Cup in Columbus, Ohio.

Representing her native Belize, Martinez led the team offensively with 19 points in a straight-set victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands on Sunday, helping secure a seventh-place finish.

Martinez played a key role in Belize's first win of the tournament, recording 22 points in a preliminary-round sweep of the U.S. Virgin Islands to advance to the quarterfinals against Venezuela. She also added 16 points in a four-set loss to Costa Rica.

Belize pushed Venezuela to five sets in the quarterfinals, winning the second set 29-27 and the fourth set 25-21 before falling in the decisive fifth set. Martinez finished with 32 points in the match.

This marked Martinez's fourth international honor since 2024. During that span, she has helped Belize win two gold medals and one bronze medal.

In 2025, Martinez was named Best Opposite after leading Belize to a four-set victory over Guatemala in the gold medal match of the U23 Central American Championship.

Martinez also earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 20th AFECAVOL Central American U21 Championship in July 2024.

Later that year, Martinez was named Best Blocker at the U23 Central American Championship.

Martinez is one of 10 newcomers on the roster and one of four transfers. She spent the previous two seasons at Alabama A&M.
