FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University sophomore
Cimara-lei Wessling has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for her four multi-hit performances during the Cardinals' six games last week. She is the third member of the 2026 Cardinals to be recognized for this honor, joining
Cala Wilson and
Isabella Flores.
Wessling (Converse, Texas) batted .563 (9-of-16) with six RBI, two doubles, a triple and a home run. She recorded two multi-hit, two-RBI games against Northwestern State, including a two-run double in game two's 10-5 victory and a two-run triple in a 9-6 losing effort in game three.
Over the weekend against UIW, Wessling added five hits. She recorded an RBI in both games of Big Red's doubleheader sweep, which included a game-tying solo homer during game two's 4-3 victory.
LU will be heading west on I-10 to take on Houston Christian for the final three games of the regular season to determine its conference tournament seeding. The series starts with a Friday doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. while Saturday's finale begins at noon. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
