FRISCO, Texas —
Chris Olivier was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The Cardinal righthander became the first Lamar pitcher since 2021 to record a complete-game shutout, tossing a two-hit gem in Game 1 against Northwestern State to lead LU to a 5-0 victory.
Olivier struck out 11 batters while walking just one, improving his record to 5-2 on the season.
He retired 11 of the final 12 hitters he faced and threw to just 28 batters — one over the minimum.
Trevin Michael previously recorded the program's most recent complete-game shutout, throwing a four-hitter in a 6-0 home win over New Orleans on May 14, 2021.
Olivier has now posted double-digit strikeouts in four of his six home starts, piling up 58 strikeouts while allowing only four earned runs at home.
Nationally, he ranks tied for 16th in strikeouts (80) and 14th in ERA (1.76).
He leads the Southland Conference in strikeouts, ERA and innings pitched (61.1).
Olivier previously earned Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on Feb. 16, March 2 and March 16.
He was also named Dick Howser National Player of the Week on Feb. 17 and received national recognition from Baseball America, 6-4 Analytics and D1Baseball.com.
