HAMMOND, La. – Lamar University recorded four hits and drew two walks, but stranded six runners on base in a 4-0 loss to Southeastern Louisiana to close out the series Saturday.

Kaylee Cuevas lasted one inning and allowed two runs on two hits to take the loss, while
Ava Prejean (two runs, five hits) pitched the final five innings.
In the bottom of the first,
Makenzie Wright threw out a pair of runners trying to steal second, which led to a scoreless inning. The Lions' second at-bat would be more successful as they plated three runs. The Cardinals had two chances to score in the fourth and fifth innings when they put two runners on and sent the tying run to the plate. Both times, the rally ended with a flyout to center while SLU tacked on one more run in the sixth.
The Cardinals (25-18, 11-7 SLC) will open a six-game homestand Tuesday beginning Tuesday against Northwestern State in a three-game series at the LU Softball Complex. Games one and two will start at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, while Wednesday's finale is set for a noon first pitch. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
