MONROE, La. – Cimara-lei Wessling, Makenzie Wright, and Isabella Flores each homered Saturday at the Best of the Bayou Tournament, but Lamar University dropped both games to Northern Iowa and UL Monroe.
 
Four runs in the first inning by UNI led to a 12-3 defeat in five innings in the first game. Wessling was one of five players to record a hit, while Sicily Windham and Ariel Flores (3B) added an RBI. Mallory Pitre was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs on four hits.
 
LU then fell, 12-4, in six innings. Wright had two RBIs while she and Cala Wilson (2B) had two hits. Reagan Smith (seven runs, nine hits) got the start, but would suffer her first loss of the season, going 2.0 innings with one strikeout.
 
LU will take on the same teams Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. against the Panthers. Then, the Cardinals will face ULM at 1:30 p.m.
