I-10 Showdown Brings Houston Christian to Neches Arena

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will look to rebound from a tough defeat by returning home to face Houston Christian Thursday evening at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
PREVIOUSLY
LU (6-6, 3-2 SLC) opened Saturday with an 8-2 run at McNeese, but would fall to the Cowgirls, 65-57. The loss snapped a 17-game winning streak against the Cowgirls. Kamryn Wilson led the Cardinals with a career-high 18 points, all in the second half, while T'Aaliyah Miner scored 11 points and was two rebounds shy of her second straight double-double.
 
GRAND PRAIRIE KAMCORDER
Kamryn Wilson, a sophomore from South Grand Prairie, shot 52.8 percent (9-of-17) from the field and averaged 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals per game during the Cardinals' last two contests. That now puts her up to third on the team in scoring (9.7 ppg). Her previous career-high was 14 against UL Monroe.
 
COOL IN JANUARY? TURN ON THE HEATER, NECHES
Since returning to the SLC in 2022, LU has compiled a 12-3 January record at Neches Arena. With each passing season, the Cardinals increased their point total from the previous year, scoring 271 points in 2023 (67.5 ppg), 337 (67.4 ppg) in 2024, and 457 (76.2 ppg) in 2025. LU has also won the last eight home games in the first month of the new year.
 
ALL TIME VS. HOUSTON CHRISTIAN
The Cardinals own a 23-3 (.885) record against HCU all-time and have won the last eight meetings. LU won both games last season by scores of 69-29 and 62-30. In the last meeting between the two, R'Mani Taylor was the second-leading scorer with nine points and stole the ball twice, while Miner had eight points and secured five rebounds.
 
ABOUT THE HUSKIES
The Huskies (4-8, 2-3 SLC) recently fell 56-52 at UIW last Saturday. Freshman Kamrun McLaurin led the Huskies with 11 points and five steals while grabbing five boards. HCU averages 64 ppg while allowing 69.2 ppg, which is currently fifth in the conference.

Big Red concludes its two-game homestead with a Cardinal battle against UIW Saturday. The ball is scheduled for tip-off at 3:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on Newstalk 560 KLVI.
