BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University and Stephen F. Austin have agreed to adjust their schedules for Saturday's men's and women's basketball doubleheader ahead of expected freezing temperatures. The women's game will now tip off at 1 p.m. with the men's game set for a 3 p.m. start from the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center.
The impending weekend weather will not impact Thursday's women's game against East Texas A&M which will tip off at 6:30 p.m. from the Neches Arena.
The doubleheader, which marks the midway point of the Southland Conference season, kicks off a key stretch for the Lamar men and women. It's the opener of a four-game homestand for the men, and a stretch that will have the LU women home for four of five contests.
The Cardinals and Ladyjacks are currently tied for second place in the league standings with a 7-2 record, just a game back of league-leading McNeese. On the men's side, Lamar is currently tied for fifth in the league standings with a 5-5 SLC record. The Lumberjacks make their way to Beaumont currently first in the conference standings with a 9-1 overall mark 4.0 games up on the Cardinals.
Both Saturday games will be broadcast live on Newstalk 560 KLVI and streamed live on ESPN+.
