CHOUDRANT, La. — In a competitive field of 17 teams, the Lamar University men's golf team wrapped up Day 1 of the Argent Financial Classic on Sunday at Squire Creek Country Club to kick off the 2025-2026 season.
The Cardinals finished a team score of 295 to place 15th.
Individual competitor
Toby Peters finished the day in the top 10 after carding a score of two-under-par (70).
Peters made a team-high five birdies, three coming on the back nine.
Nathan Woodham shot a 72 (even-par) as he made three birdies while
David Schneider Jerez finished with a score of 73.
The Cardinals tallied 18 birdies on the day, 10 were made on the back nine. Five of the six players finished with a birdie on the fifth hole.
LU is six strokes outside of the top 10.
UL Lafayette leads the team leaderboard with a score of 280 (eight-under-par) while Rice is one stroke behind in second place.
South Alabama is in third, two strokes out of first.
Malan Potgieter of UL Lafayette sits atop the individual leaderboard after carding a score of 65 (seven-under-par).
He holds a three-stroke lead over Houston's Hudson Weibel who is in a three-way tie for second place alongside South Alabama's Joshua Hill and UL Lafayette's Oskari Schuvalow.
