FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University senior receiver
Kyndon Fuselier has been named Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week announced league officials Monday morning. It marks the third time in the last four weeks that LU has received a weekly superlative, while Fuselier becomes the fifth Cardinal to receive a player of the week honor this season.
Fuselier played a key role in helping then No. 22 Lamar defeat Central Arkansas Saturday in Beaumont. The Nederland native played a huge role in providing the Cardinals with a short field to work returning three punts for 97 yards. He ended the night averaging 32.3 yards per return.
Fuselier enters the week as the Southland's top punt returner averaging nearly 27 yards per return. He is averaging better than 11 yards more per return than the next closest specialist.
Just for good measure, Fuselier also led the team with four catches for 53 yards and a touchdown in the win.
The Cardinals (3-1/0-0 SLC) return to action Saturday when they host Nicholls in the 2025 Southland Conference opener. The Colonels currently sit tied for first in the league after opening the year with a convincing victory over then No. 5 UIW.
