BEAUMONT, Texas - Starting Southland Conference play with a draw, Lamar University sets its sights on UIW Sunday when the Cardinals travel to San Antonio to take on the league's other Cardinals. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start and will be streamed on ESPN+.

PREVIOUSLY
Lamar earned a point to open the SLC after a 2-2 draw with East Texas A&M Thursday at the LU Soccer Complex. Marissa Gross and Anneliese Switzer scored for Big Red while Kam Jalayer assisted on both goals. Goalkeeper Eloise Bywater tallied five saves.
 
DISH KAM
Jalayer's two assists mean she now has three for the season. This has put her in a tie for fifth along with four others in the top 10 assist category.  Her teammate Annika Kassenbrock remains at the top of the leaderboard in the assist category. 

ROAD OPENING ON A LONG WEEKEND
LU is 5-8-4 all-time in SLC road opening matches. The last road win for Big Red came two years ago when it blanked UIW, 2-0. 
 
ALL-TIME vs. UIW
Lamar is undefeated in 12 meetings against UIW with seven wins and five ties. Last season, the two sides battled to a scoreless draw in Beaumont.
 
ABOUT UIW
UIW opened its conference season by blanking Nicholls, 2-0, behind goals from Atiana Lara and Montanna Mathews. Lara, who leads UIW with three goals, is one of five Southland players with two game-winners, along with Cena Carlson.

Big Red returns home Thursday, Sept. 25th, to host Houston Christian. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
