BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar is set to make its 2025 home debut at the LU Soccer Complex Thursday with a home match against UC Davis. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Lamar fell to UTSA 1-0 in Sunday's match in San Antonio. The Roadrunners capitalized on a penalty kick in the 81st minute, but with one second left, the Cardinals had a penalty kick attempt that was unsuccessful.
Our Defense is Still There
Early in the match Sunday, LU withstood a flurry of Roadrunner shots (5-1) in the first 15 minutes before conceding one for the final 30 minutes of the half. Through three games, the Cardinals are still among the top defensive teams in the Southland Conference. They are tied for fourth in goals allowed per game (2.00) along with Stephen F. Austin.

Nathan Kogut took the reins, LU has won 23 games over the last four seasons and has been undefeated in 28 of the 36 contests played. The Cardinals are also on an eight-match undefeated streak at home dating back to Sep. 1st, 2024 against Sam Houston (2-1).
All-Time vs. UC Davis
This will be LU's second meeting with the Aggies all-time and the first meeting in nearly 13 years. On Sep. 21, 2012, the Cardinals traveled to Riverside, Calif., and fell 4-0.
About the Aggies
The Aggies enter Thursday's contest with a 1-1-1 record after a 2-1 loss to San Jose State, with their only goal coming from Summer Humphreys. After three games, the Aggies have scored and allowed four goals (1.33 goals per game). Four players have each tallied a goal, while Sarah Canavan has two assists to lead the team. Genavieve Fontes entered this season being named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Players to Watch List. Last season, she led the Big West with 11 goals, including four game-winners, while helping them to a 13-5-2 record.
