Lamar On The Road to UTSA Sunday

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar looks to end its three-match road trip with a victory as the Cardinals head out west on I-10 to face UTSA Sunday at the Park West Athletics Complex. The match against the Roadrunners starts at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals fell 1-0 in their bid to knock off Texas A&M in College Station last Sunday, but LU kept the Aggies off the scoreboard until the 87th minute. LU was held to nine shots while allowing 22 in the game. Eloise Bywater posted seven saves in goal in the first 21 shots she faced.
 
Kamryn Harvey
Kamryn Harvey was the lone Cardinal with two shots in the contest. The last time Harvey led the Cardinals in shots taken in a game was against UL Lafayette (9/12/24), when she posted six. 
 
All-Time vs. UTSA
LU is 2-6-1 all-time against the Roadrunners. The last meeting took place in 2021 when UTSA held off a late Cardinal rally for a 2-1 win at the LU Soccer Complex. Before 2021, Big Red had won two straight against the Roadrunners by scores of 4-3 (overtime contest in 2018) in Beaumont and 3-1 (2013) in San Antonio. 
 
About the Roadrunners
The Roadrunners sit at 1-1-1 following a 3-0 shutout win over St. Mary's (Texas). Aaliyaiah Durden and Brooklyn Bailey scored UTSA's first goals of the season with assists from Ava Jackson and Kamryn Watson, respectively. Goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler started her season with a seven-save shutout against Houston and four saves against ninth-ranked TCU in a 1-0 loss. 
 
Southland Success
Since losing to LU back in 2018, the Roadrunners are undefeated in 12 straight matches (10-0-2) against teams in the Southland Conference. In that span, they have outscored SLC foes, 19-4. 


Up Next
The Cardinals will make their 2025 home debut Thursday as they host UC Davis. The ball will be kicked off at 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
