Cardinals Add Post Player to Roster

BEAUMONT, Texas – Spencer Ezewiro will continue his education and play basketball for Lamar University announced head men's basketball coach Alvin Brooks Thursday morning. Ezewiro (6-9, 220, Jr., Paramount, Calif.) transfers to Lamar from Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.

"Spencer is a big, strong athletic player who can really rebound and defend," said Brooks. "He was a double-double guy in junior college and with Adam (Hamilton) leaving we needed a guy who could rebound the ball and be a rim protector. He also gives us more experience in the post. We were looking for someone to help us continue competing for a Southland Conference title and he will do that."

Ezewiro averaged nearly a double-double per game for the Falcons. He played in 31 games making 29 starts during his sophomore season. Ezewiro averaged 12.3 points, pulled down 9.1 rebounds and dished out 1.5 assists for Cerritos during his sophomore season. He also shot nearly 54 percent from the field.

A highly regarded prep player for Paramount High School, Ezewiro was named second-team All-CIF and first-team All-San Gabriel Valley League during his senior season. He averaged 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game as a senior on his way to Press Telegram Dream Team and Athlete of the Year honors.

Ezewiro comes from a basketball family as his mother played for Maryland Eastern Shore, and his brother also playes NCAA Division I ball for several schools including Georgetown and LSU.

Ezewiro's signing comes at a perfect time for the Red and White as big man and three-year letterwinner Adam Hamilton exhausted his eligibility following the 2024-25 season.
