BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University travels to Bryan for the two-day Aggie Invitational Saturday-Sunday, April 12-13 at the Traditions Club.
This is the final regular season competition ahead of the Southland Conference tournament in San Antonio.
The tournament field consists of Baylor, University of Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Rice, Sam Houston State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M and UTSA.
Opened in 2004, the Traditions Club is a par-72, 7,227-yard private course located west of the Texas A&M campus.
Round one consists of 36 holes of continuous play Saturday with tee times scheduled in between 7:20-9:20 a.m.
Sunday's final round also has tee times scheduled in between 7:20-9:20 a.m.
THE AGGIE
Since the first tournament was held in 2005, this will be the 17th edition of The Aggie.
Texas A&M has won its home tournament five times, twice being named a co-champion in 2014 and 2021.
Last spring, Baylor won the team title.
Rickie Fowler, who has six wins on the PGA Tour, was an individual champion with Oklahoma State in 2009.
This will be the fifth time LU is competing at the tournament as its best finish came during the 2008-2009 season when it placed seventh.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cardinals split up last week to compete at two different tournaments.
LU finished 10th out of 18 teams at the Redhawk Invitational in University Place, Wash.
Two Cardinals finished in the top 25 as
David Schneider Jerez and
Filip Widepalm both tied for 25th.
LU also had three individuals compete at the Spring Indy in Ardmore, Okla.
