BEAUMONT, Texas – Khiyree Keith (defensive backs), Semaj Mitchell (wide receivers), Mikal Johnson (special teams and specialists) and Carson Picheco (defensive line) have been added to the Lamar University coaching staff as graduate assistants announced head coach Pete Rossomando Thursday morning. The announcement comes just two days after the Cardinals officially opened spring camp.
 
The group comes to the Golden Triangle with more than 12 years of coaching experience at all levels of the game.
 
Keith was a three-year letterwinner at Morehead State before joining the coaching ranks. Keith comes to Lamar from Presbyterian College. During his time in Clinton, S.C., Keith served as the corner backs coach and video coordinator for the Blue Hose.
 
Mitchell is a former All-Lone Star Conference honoree at West Texas A&M who joined the coaching staff at Minot State following his playing career. During his time with the Beavers, Mitchell was an offensive GA coach who worked directly with the running backs.
 
Johnson makes his way to the Golden Triangle from Ottawa (Kansas) University where he worked directly with running backs. He took that position following a five-year stint with Mary Hardin-Baylor, most recently as an offensive GA coach. During his time with Ottawa, Norman helped produce some of NAIA football's most productive offenses ranking nationally in total offense, yards per game, points per game and rushing.
 
Picheco brings four years of experience with him to the Cardinals' sideline most recently with Edinboro University. During his time with Edinboro, Picheco worked directly with the defensive line and was the film coordinator. Prior to a two-year stint with the Fighting Scots, he spent one season at Dickinson College and one with Slippery Rock. He served as a defensive line assistant at both stops.
