BEAUMONT, Texas – Having snapped a minor two-game skid Thursday in their win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lamar University (15-6, 10-2 SLC) now looks ahead to a Saturday matchup against UT Rio Grande Valley (11-13, 6-7 SLC) at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center. The Southland Conference game is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on Newstalk 560 KLVI.

LU opened SLC play with a 69-44 victory over the Vaqueros. Jacei Denley scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Cardinals, while Kamryn Wilson and R'Mani Taylor posted 12 and 11 points, respectively. That win puts the Cardinals at 28-5 all-time against UTRGV.

UTRGV fell 87-67 to Stephen F. Austin Thursday in Nacogdoches. The trio of Kayla Lorenz (15), Kade Jackerott (14), and Charlotte O'Keefe (12) combined for 41 points to lead the Vaqueros. Currently in seventh place in the SLC, UTRGV averages 61.8 ppg and gives up 63.6 ppg.
