FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University, in conjunction with the Southland Conference, has announced the 2025 conference football schedule. The 2025 league slate will consist of eight contests (including four home dates) to go along with the Cardinals previously announced non-conference slate.
Big Red's 12-game schedule will open Saturday, Aug. 30
th, at North Texas and will also see the Cardinals make a return trip to Texas Southern. Lamar's non-conference home dates will be against 2024 NCAA playoff participant South Dakota (Sept. 6) and Central Arkansas (Sept. 27).
The Cardinals will split the month of October with two home games and two road games beginning at Provost Umphrey Stadium Saturday, Oct. 4, against Nicholls. LU will then travel to Commerce, Texas to face East Texas A&M the following Saturday. Program newcomer, UT Rio Grande Valley comes to town on Saturday, Oct. 18
th. Big Red will close out the month of October in Natchitoches, La., at Northwestern State. The game against the Demons will be the first of two straight on the road for LU – the team's only consecutive week stretch away from the Golden Triangle. The Cardinals travel to defending league champion UIW Saturday Nov. 1

The month of November will also see the Cardinals host Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 8) and travel to Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 15) before closing out the regular season against rival McNeese. The annual Battle of the Border rivalry game will take place Saturday, Nov. 22

Game times for the 2025 season have not yet been set. The Cardinals will play all home games at Provost Umphrey Stadium. All games will be broadcast live on Newstalk 560 and streamed live on ESPN+.
