Lamar vs. McNeese

Neches Arena - Beaumont, Texas
Series History vs. McNeese - LU leads 44-43

Previously
LU led from start to finish to a 68-49 win over Nicholls Thursday. Akasha Davis recorded her fourth straight double-double and 11th of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Jacei Denley posted 12 points while NJ Weems netted 11.

Still Walking and Ranging, KJ?
KJ Walker set season-highs in points (13), field goals made (four), and minutes (26) in the victory over Nicholls. She also matched her three-point total in a game with three. Before Thursday, her previous season high was nine against UIW, which she acquired a week ago.

No, Please Stay Seniors
The five seniors who will be honored for their careers at LU are Davis, Cameron Dill, Taliah Hill, T'Aaliyah Miner, and Justice Ross. Together, these five players have contributed to 78 wins, two consecutive SLC title game appearances, and a regular season conference title.

Milestone Watch - Akasha Davis
Davis needs six rebounds to eclipse Cardinals Hall of Honor member Carolyn Ford for the most rebounds in program history. In 117 games, she has averaged 8.8 rebounds per game. Her career high for rebounds was 18, which she set twice (vs. Northwestern State - 1/27/25 and East Texas A&M -1/18/24).

Potential Clinching Scenario
LU leads Stephen F. Austin by a half game for second place in the SLC. The Cardinals can clinch the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament Saturday with a win over McNeese plus an SFA loss to Nicholls.

Last Time vs. McNeese
Led by R'Mani Taylor and Akasha Davis, who each tallied 20 points, the Cardinals won their 16th game in a row against McNeese. Jacei Denley totaled 10 points and stole the ball twice. LU's recent win streak has them just over the .500 mark all-time (44-43) against McNeese.

The Cowgirls
McNeese fell 80-57 to Stephen F. Austin  Thursday in Nacogdoches and was led by 13 points from Azjah Reeves. The Cowgirls trail Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by a game for the eighth and final seed in the tournament but hold the tiebreaker in case both teams finish with similar records due to sweeping the Islanders in the regular season.

Up Next
The last regular season game for the Cardinals will be in Corpus Christi Wednesday against the Islanders at the American Bank Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
