BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University defensive line coach Lorenzo Jackson has been selected for the AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute, announced organization officials Monday morning. The leadership institute, which is presented by Riddell InSite Analytics, is designed to identify and develop premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession.
Jackson, who just finished his third season with the Cardinals, is one of two representatives from the Southland Conference and one of just 14 from non-NCAA FBS programs. The list of selected coaches also represents the ACC, American Athletic, Big 12, Mountain West, SEC and Sun Belt among others.
Jackson has been a vital in helping head coach Pete Rossomando build the Cardinals' program. Joining Rossomando on his first staff, Jackson came to the Golden Triangle following Lamar's one-win campaign (2022). In his three seasons, the Cardinals have recorded three-straight winning campaigns, improved every year and advanced to the NCAA FCS Playoffs in 2025 for just the second time in program history (and the first time since 2018).
Jackson has produced three all-conference selections during his brief time in Beaumont, which included junior
Peyton Christian this past season.
