Quick Turnaround Has Lamar Hosting Prairie View Wednesday

BEAUMONT, Texas – After two wins to begin Southland Conference play, Lamar University will have a quick turnaround to conclude its non-conference schedule by hosting Prairie View A&M Wednesday at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center.  The ball is slated to be tipped at 6:30 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
PREVIOUSLY
The Cardinals (4-4) scored 45 points in the second half to take down Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 77-49 at Neches Arena Monday evening. They were led by T'Aaliyah Miner, who finished with 17 points, while Solenne Olenga and Shaila Forman tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.
 
MINING FOR A NEW CAREER HIGH
Miner's 17 points Monday were a new career high. Shooting 6-of-10 from the field, she had 14 second-half points, including 10 in the third quarter, on which she made all four of her field goals. Her previous career high occurred against New Orleans last season, when she scored 14 points.
 
NON-CONFERENCE HOME RUN
Big Red has won its last 12 non-conference games at home, dating back to Dec. 6, 2023 against Loyola (La.).  In this current streak, the Cardinals have won by an average of 23 points while averaging 74.3 points per game. 
 
ALL TIME VS. PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
The Cardinals hold a 20-2 record against PVAMU in 22 previous meetings. LU's last game against the Panthers was a 66-63 overtime win back in 2022. The only two current Cardinals who appeared in that game were Taliah Hill and R'Mani Taylor
 
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
The Panthers (2-7) are coming off a loss to UTSA, 86-40, Saturday afternoon. Crystal Schultz was the only one in double-figures as she posted 20 points on 8-of-19 from the field. CJ Wilson leads PVAMU in scoring with 16.3 ppg after starting the season with eight straight games of double figures. 
 
UP NEXT
The Cardinals hit the road to Natchitoches, La., Sunday to meet with Northwestern State at the Prather Coliseum. The game will be a battle of 2-0 teams. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
