Lamar in Manhattan to Face Kansas State

BEAUMONT, Texas - With the season underway, Lamar University will cross the border to Manhattan, Kan., to meet with Kansas State at the Bramlage Coliseum Monday. The game will start at 6:30 p.m., and will be streamed on ESPN+. 

PREVIOUSLY
The Cardinals had a late fourth-quarter setback against Northern Colorado, who rallied from double-digits to secure a 72-68 win in overtime. LU finished the game

FRESH START FOR FRESHMAN
Shaila Forman scored 18 points in her first collegiate game. The Baton Rouge, La., native came off the bench and converted five field goals, including two three's while being a perfect 6-of-6 from the field. 

SHE WASN'T ALONE IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Junior guard Jacei Denley tallied 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting and also converted a pair of threes. Sophomore forward Molly Powell posted 12 points in her first action with Big Red while grabbing four rebounds. 

ALL TIME vs. KSU
The Cardinals have played five previous meetings with KSU and have yet to pick up a win. The most recent outing was on Dec. 5th, 2018, in which LU fell 73-55. 

ABOUT KANSAS STATE
The Wildcats (2-0) needed a buzzer-beater from freshman Gina Garcia to beat SMU 46-44 in Dallas Saturday afternoon. Nastja Claessens led the Wildcats with 11 rebounds and was two points shy of a double-double. Through two games, Claessens (10.0 ppg), Taryn Sides (11.0 ppg), and Izela Arenas (11.5 ppg) are the only double-figure scorers for KSU. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals will conclude their road trip with the opportunity to play in the iconic Allen Fieldhouse against the Kansas Jayhawks Wednesday, Nov. 12th. The ball will be tipped at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
