BEAUMONT, Texas - The LU Soccer Complex will play host for the 2025 Southland Conference tournament from Tuesday, Nov. 4th through Sunday, Nov. 9th. Lamar University enters the tournament as the sixth seed and will take on third-seeded Southeastern Louisiana in the final match of the quarterfinal round. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals fell to UT Rio Grande Valley, 3-1, in the regular season finale down in Edinburg.

Big Red had three recipients named to the SLC All-Conference teams.
Lauren Smith was selected to the first team squad and earned both Newcomer and Forward of the Year honors.

LU TOURNAMENT HISTORY
This is LU's 10th appearance in the conference tournament. In 16 matches, the Cardinals are 10-5-1 all-time and winners of four conference titles. Last season saw the Cardinals' four-game tournament win streak end at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi against the hosts, 2-1 in the first round.
WE'RE HOSTING AGAIN
This will be the fourth time Beaumont will be the host site for the SLC tournament, having done so in 2014, 2018, and 2020. In their home tournament games, the Cardinals are 1-2, with its one win being in '18 against SLU, who ironically was the sixth seed that year, while LU was the third.Â
ALL-TIME vs. SLU
The Cardinals are 12-7-2 all-time against SLU, which included a 1-0 victory in Beaumont back on October 9th.
Lauren Fincher netted the only goal in the 30th minute on an assist from Smith. This will mark the third tournament meeting between LU and the Lions, as Big Red won the last two meetings in 2012 (3-1) and 2018 (3-2).Â
ABOUT THE LIONS
SLU (6-7-4, 5-3-2 SLC) enters the tournament as the third seed following a 2-1 win over McNeese. Brooke Opferman scored for the Lions while goalkeeper Kendall Curran tallied six saves. Alexandria Knight leads SLU with four goals.
