Cardinals Take Down ETBU in Exhibition Win

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - Four players totaled double figures Thursday evening at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center as Lamar University defeated East Texas Baptist University, 86-35, in an exhibition contest to open the 2025-26 campaign.

Ten Cardinals would register a point as Solene Olenga (5-of-7 shooting), Keyiona McDaniel (4-of-6 shooting), and R'Mani Taylor (4-of-4 shooting) led with 12 points, while Kamryn Wilson added 11. Chisom Oguego crashed the boards for a team-high 10 rebounds for LU while Molly Powell finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

The Cardinals finished the game shooting 46.4 percent from the field, including nine three-pointers, with three from McDaniel and a half-court shot from Wilson to end the first half.

LU's defense would be the story as it held the Tigers to 12 field goals (.308), which also included four from long range on 21 attempts.

Big Red dominated the first half, racing out to a 22-4 first-quarter advantage before starting the second quarter with 23 unanswered points. From that point on, the Cardinals extended their margin to the final score of 86-35.

The regular season starts Saturday, Nov. 8th, as LU travels to Greeley, Colo., to meet with Northern Colorado. The tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., central.
