FRISCO, Texas — Lamar University volleyball had two players tabbed as Southland Conference Players of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Maja Malinowska earned offensive player of the week while
Alexa Gonzalez earned setter of the week.
Gonzalez earned her third career setter of the week honor.
She finished last week with 104 total assists in eight sets played while she also had four kills, three service aces, one solo block and 24 digs.
Gonzalez averaged 13 assists per set.
The Cardinals won two matches in four sets over the University of Incarnate Word and Houston Christian to extend their winning streak to five games.
Against UIW, Gonzalez tallied 55 assists, two kills, two service aces and 17 digs.
She recorded her eighth double-double of the season while also matching her season high total for assists.
Gonzalez finished with 49 assists, two kills, one service ace, seven digs and one solo block against HCU.
Malinowska and Gonzalez were recognized during the same week by the conference for the second time.
The duo was last recognized as players of the week back on Sept. 23, 2024.
Malinowska finished the week with 44 kills, 42 digs, one assist, six service aces and one solo block in eight sets played.
She averaged 5.5 kills per set and 5.2 digs per set while she hit .329 for the week.
This is Malinowska's third career conference offensive player of the week honor.
Against UIW, she posted 24 kills, one assist, three service aces, one solo block and 24 digs. She hit .333 for the match.
Malinowska recorded 20 kills, three service aces and 18 digs against HCU to tally her 12th double-double of the season.
LU has had three players honored by the conference as players of the week this season.
Gabby Baker earned defensive player of the week honors back on Sept. 22.
