Lamar Heading to Thibodaux to Face Nicholls

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University looks to improve its Southland Conference tournament seeding as it searches for a win against Nicholls Sunday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex. This match kicks off at 1:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. 
 
PREVIOUSLY
LU dropped its most recent contest to McNeese, 2-1, in Lake Charles, La. Sofia Wilby scored the Cardinals' goal with Kam Jalayer picking up the assist. 
 
NEW SCORER NO. EIGHT
Wilby becomes the eighth Cardinal newcomer to score a goal this season. She joins fellow Manchester, England native Lauren Smith, Kam Jalayer, Marissa Gross, Sydney Williams, Celine Diaz, Katherine Williams, and Lauren Fincher
 
IN THE MIDDLE OF A THRILLING FIGHT
With three conference games remaining, the Cardinals (5-6-4, 2-2-3 SLC) are currently sixth in the standings with nine conference points, trailing both McNeese (4-8-3, 3-2-1 SLC) and East Texas A&M (5-6-4, 2-1-4 SLC) by one point. Houston Christian (7-6-2) and UIW (4-5-3) are each tied for seventh with eight points (2-2-2 SLC) while UT Rio Grande Valley (5-8-2, 2-4-1 SLC) is two points behind in ninth. 
 
ALL-TIME vs. NICHOLLS
The Cardinals have won 15 of their 18 matches all-time against Nicholls. This includes a 4-0 shutout victory over the Colonels last season in Beaumont and featured a goal from Anneliese Switzer and assists from Ella CarmodyCaragan Childs, Kamryn Harvey, and Riley Wilson
 
HALTING THE COLONELS' ATTACK
In the first eight games of this head-to-head series, the Cardinals scored 14 goals while giving up 10. Since then, Big Red, who is undefeated against the Colonels in the last 10 contests (9-0-1) doubled its goal total and conceded only two goals. 

ABOUT NICHOLLS 
The Colonels (4-7-4, 1-3-3 SLC) recorded their second straight 2-2 contest against UTRGV Thursday. Kaylie Harris posted her fifth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead with Avery Mondoux. 

UP NEXT
The Cardinals will be hosting Senior Day at the LU Soccer Complex on Thursday against Northwestern State. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+.
