BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University volleyball has won four straight matches to put itself a game out of second place in the latest Southland Conference standings.
The Cardinals wrap up the week with a match against Houston Christian, which is in a three-way tie for second.
HUSKIES AT A GLANCE
2025 SCHEDULE: HCU began the season 0-5, not winning a single set … The Huskies then evened out by winning five in a row … To start conference play, the Huskies won their first five matches which began with four sweeps and a four-set win over A&M-Corpus Christi … Recently, HCU has dropped its last two matches in four sets to the conference's top two teams — UT Rio Grande Valley and Stephen F. OFFENSIVE LEADERS: Junior middle blocker Allana Archie leads the way with 192 kills and 223.5 points … Freshman outside hitter Joya Euhus is second on the team 141 kills while junior middle blocker Hanna Redrow is third with 137 … Sophomore setter Peyton Fadal has a team high 569 assists, ranking fourth in the SLC in assists … Sophomore defensive specialist / libero Bianca Byerly is fourth in the conference with 25 service aces.
DEFENSIVE LEADERS: Byerly leads the defense with 226 digs … Archie has a team high 47 total blocks (41 block assists, six solo).
2024 RECAP: HCU finished the season 11-17 overall and 8-8 in conference play … The Huskies were seeded sixth at the conference tourney, dropping their first-round match to third seeded SFA.
HEAD COACH: Trent Herman, a former two-time SLC Coach of the Year, is in his 14th season at the helm since taking over in 2012 … Herman has a career record of 232-189 with HCU after posting nine seasons of .500 or better and leading the program to 12 straight SLC tournaments.
