BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University (4-4-3, 1-0-2) earned three points in its last contest and will look to carry that momentum into Thursday's match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2-6-3, 0-2-1) at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer Field. The game is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals secured their first Southland Conference win of the season by overcoming a 1-0 deficit in the match against Houston Christian. LU knotted the contest at one in the 67th minute on Lauren Smith's goal and didn't score the game-winner until 50 seconds left from Sydney Williams.

Sydney Williams (No. 2 on the roster) scored her second goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Huskies. The Allen native also has two assists for the year.

Lauren Smith is the first Cardinal to score eight goals in a season since Cariel Ellis back in 2023. She is now tied for conference lead in goals along with Emily Senatore (Northwestern State). The single-season record for most goals by a Cardinal in the Nathan Kogut era is 13 from Christine Kitaru in 2022. All-time, Esther Okoronkwo scored a program-best 25 in 2019.

ALL-TIME vs. TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
LU is 10-4-1 all-time against the Islanders. It was Corpus Christi who eliminated the Cardinals with a 2-1 victory in the first round of the SLC tournament. Anneliese Switzer scored LU's lone goal in the match. 

ABOUT TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
The Islanders' recent two-game skid has them 0-2-1 in the conference to go along with their 2-6-3 overall record. In their last five matches, they have been outscored 9-1. 

DO WE NEED ANOTHER REMINDER OF LAST TIME?
Mai-Lisa Atis scored the equalizing goal in last season's conference tournament match with the assist by Cilia Leal. The latter leads the Islanders with three goals, while Atis has two for the year. In goal, Hayven Harrison has a 1.50 goals against average.
