BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University (14-5, 9-1 SLC) seeks to remove the bitter taste of its first Southland Conference loss from Thursday as it looks to get back in the win column Saturday. Traveling to Nacogdoches, the Cardinals will make their first trip to the William R. Johnson Coliseum in three years as they will take on Stephen F. Austin (17-5, 6-4 SLC). The game is set to tip off at 5 p.m.

The Cardinals fell 60-48 to Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La. on Thursday night. LU trailed 27-24 at halftime, but was outscored 33-24 in the second half.

This was the third time this season that Weems was LU's leading scorer. The other two times she led LU in scoring this season were against Texas Tech (21) and SFA (26).

The Cardinals had won 22 consecutive conference games before Thursday. The last loss was on Jan. 18th, 2024 against East Texas A&M. LU also saw its 17-game winning streak in conference road games come to an end. The last loss before Thursday was on Jan. 28th, 2023 at Northwestern State.

LU's recent contest against the Ladyjacks was a thrilling 77-74 victory that came down to the wire. Weems led everyone with 26 points on 13-of-18 shooting, while Davis added 21 points, scored the game-winner, and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Since The Last Meeting
The Ladyjacks defeated New Orleans 83-65 dropping the Privateers into a three-way tie for third with Nicholls and UIW at 7-4. Ashlyn-Traylor Walker was one of four Ladyjacks in double-figures in the win along with Faith Blackstone (15), Harmanie Dominguez (15), and Trinity Moore. SFA continues to lead the entire conference in scoring with 80.6 points per game.
