Series History vs. the Colonels - LU leads 29-19

Previously
Big Red edged out Stephen F. Austin 77-74 to remain undefeated in conference play. NJ Weems led everyone with 26 points while Akasha Davis grabbed a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Sabria Dean also added 19 points for the Cardinals including four three-pointers.

NJ is MJ? Weems Impossible
NJ Weems set a season-high of 26 points by hitting 13-of-18 from the field. She helped the Cardinals seal the win with 16 second-half points. This was her third career 20-point game as she had 21 points earlier against Texas Tech. Her career-high was 27 points, which she set last year at UIW.

Best Start in Southland Since
At 5-0 in the SLC, this is the best start by the Cardinals in conference play since 2018-19. That season, LU opened conference play 10-0 before losing to Stephen F. Austin. The Cardinals would go on to wrap up the regular season title winning their last seven games.

Milestone Watch - Sabria Dean
Dean needs one steal to become the second Cardinal to achieve 1,500 points, 300 assists, and 200 steals. The only other player to accomplish this feat was Kalis Loyd (2009-13), who finished her career with 1,967 points, 371 assists and 282 steals.

Milestone Watch - Akasha Davis
Davis needs 13 points to reach 1,500 in her career. She also needs one block shot to pass Travesa Gant (68) to move into 10th all-time in program history.

On The Road Again. We Can't Wait To Get On The Road Again
The Cardinals' road winning streak has reached 15 games. LU last won on the road at UT Rio Grande Valley earlier this season. Big Red went 9-0 in conference play on the road last season en route to a 17-1 regular season conference title.

All-Time vs. Nicholls
LU is 29-19 all-time against the Colonels, which includes a current three-game winning streak.  In the last meeting, Big Red dominated Nicholls 70-44, which featured four starters in double figures. Davis tallied 17 points while Jacei Denley (16), Dean (11), and R'Mani Taylor (10) combined for 37 points.

About the Colonels
Nicholls evened its SLC record to 3-3 after a 60-47 victory over McNeese. Britiya Curtis led with 13 points while Deonna Brister (12) and Tanita Swift (11) were in double figures. While the Colonels average 61.5 points per game, which is ninth in the conference, they possess the third-best defense conceding 56.2 ppg. Ten of the 15 games played have resulted in the Colonels allowing 60 points or fewer and they are 7-3 when doing so.

Up Next
The Cardinals will prepare themselves for a showdown with McNeese Saturday at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles, La. The game is scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m.
