Cardinals Hosting Tigers Sunday at LU Soccer Complex

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's soccer team looks to get back to their winning ways as they start a stretch of four of the next five contests being held at the friendly confines of the LU Soccer Complex. It all begins Sunday at 7:00 p.m., as the Cardinals will play host to the Texas Southern Tigers. 

Previously 
The Cardinals were shut out by South Alabama, 2-0. The Cardinals were held to five shots in the contest. Trinity Clark and Isela Ramirez each had two shots to lead LU. Goalkeeper Maddie Rich recorded two saves for Big Red. 

History vs. Texas Southern
Sunday's contest against the Tigers will be the eighth time the Cardinals have played TSU. In their previous seven meetings, the Cardinals have come up victorious each time outscoring TSU 38-1. The last time LU took on the Tigers was back in 2019.  LU took the victory, 5-0. 

About Texas Southern 
TSU recently allowed three second-half goals to the McNeese Cowgirls in a 3-0 loss to drop its record to 1-4. The Tigers posted nine shots while conceding 16 from McNeese. Their lone win to this point was a 1-0 season-opening victory over UT Rio Grande Valley. Dejah Marsh netted the team's only goal for the season in the 52nd minute. TSU averages 2.0 shots per game while goalkeeper Alessandra Bastidas has a goals against average of 2.80.

Next Up
After spending the last two Thursdays on the road, LU will return home for its next Thursday contest at 7:00 p.m., against UL Lafayette.
