BEAUMONT, Texas - Southland Conference play awaits the Lamar University women's soccer team as it will get set for its conference opener against Stephen F. Austin. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. in Nacogdoches Sunday. SFA rejoined the Southland Conference before the start of the year, marking this their first official conference match-up since their return. This will mark the first conference meeting with the Ladyjacks since 2021 when both teams were in the Western Athletic Conference.

In Lamar's last game, it got a goal from
Cena Carlson in the 11th minute to give Big Red a 1-0 lead over UL Lafayette. But 75 minutes later, the Ragin' Cajuns netted the equalizing goal to end the final non-conference match 1-1. The Cardinals posted 16 shots with
Kamryn Harvey (six) and
Taylor Conway (two) combining for half of them.
Maddie Rich posted five saves in goal.
SLC's 10 Best
As the conference season begins, four Cardinals are currently ranked in the SLC's top 10 in several stats. LU has two players in the top 10 in shots, Conway (7th; 16), who also ranks fourth with eight shots on goal, and Harvey (10th; 15). Carlson is one of seven players with a conference-leading three assists, while goalkeeper Rich is third in goals against average (1.02), sixth in saves (23) and saves per game (3.83).
History vs. SFA
The Cardinals have played the Ladyjacks 20 previous times and possess a 5-15 record. LU last played SFA three years ago in which they fell 1-0. The Cardinals' last win over SFA came in 2019 by the final of 6-2.
About the Ladyjacks
The Ladyjacks are 3-1-2 after a 9-0 shutout win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Reaganne Crane led SFA with a four-goal performance in the win. SFA leads the conference with 24 goals scored while allowing a conference-low four. Five Ladyjacks rank in the top 10 in scoring as Crane leads with five goals while Maddie Bowers, Brielle Buchannan, Kamryn Jiles, and Jayme Bailey each have three.
