Big Red Set to Close Out Non-Conference Schedule

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University soccer team will close out its non-conference schedule as they will take on UL Lafayette at the LU Soccer Complex. Kick off is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. 
 

Previously 
LU had its best offensive game of the season, defeating Texas Southern 4-1. Kaitlyn Niemeyer netted her first two goals of the year on three shots. Anneliese Switzer and Mariana Cardenas also netted their first goals of the season. Cena Carlson assisted on two of the goals, while Riley Wilson and Taylor Howard each recorded an assist. 

History vs. UL Lafayette
Tied at four wins apiece, this match will mark the ninth meeting between the two programs. The Cardinals have won their last four games against the Ragin Cajuns, including a 2-0 shutout last season in Lafayette, which featured a goal from Isela Ramirez. In LU's last home match with UL Lafayette, Ramirez recorded two assists, one of which was on a Trinity Clark goal. Arely Alaniz also assisted on a goal in LU's 4-1 win. 

Anneliese Switzer
Switzer is set to face her former team. While at ULL last season, she played 577 minutes in 16 matches. She netted a goal against Grambling (Aug. 24), which was one of four shot attempts she took all season. To this point, Switzer has appeared in all seven games and recorded four shots while her goal on Sunday was the only shot on goal. 

About UL Lafayette 
The Ragin Cajuns are 4-1-3 after a 3-1 loss to LSU, but they started that game with an early 1-0 lead a goal coming from Lucy Ortiz in the 25th minute. ULL averages 1.63 goals per game on 15.6 shots throughout its eight games. Ortiz is one of two Ragin' Cajuns with three goals (along with Adeline Nemeth). In goal, Natalie Meyes has a 0.88 goals against average with four shutouts. 

Next Up
The Cardinals will be off for 10 days before their first Southland Conference game. LU will start conference play on Sept. 22nd in Nacogdoches against the Ladyjacks of Stephen F. Austin.
